Gary Hammon Plays Original Compositions

  • Wa Na Wari 911 24th Avenue Seattle, WA, 98122 United States (map)

Born and raised in Seattle's Central District, saxophonist and composer Gary "Jubil" Hammon spent decades in the Boston and New York jazz scenes before returning to Seattle to "give back to the community that raised him."

Gary will be sharing work-in-progress excerpts from a new show he is creating that blends live storytelling and original compositions. The new work is called In Case You Didn't Know and references his experience growing up in the 60s and 70s, as a Black musician, in the CD. It will premiere at Langston Hughes, as part of the Earshot Jazz Festival, on November 3rd.
